6631 yards

Seymour Dunn, the designer of the Saranac Inn course, would be proud if he could see his favorite course today. Though the Scottish layout remains as Dunn originally intended, playing conditions have improved considerably, making the course more enjoyable than ever before. A state-of-the-art watering network combined with the latest in maintenance techniques and equipment, keeps the course meticulously maintained. No details are overlooked to make the course par-excellent. In fact, one could almost practice putt on the bent grass tees. This, combined with a rich variety of settings and the beautiful bluebirds and other wildlife, make for an enjoyable round of golf.

The first hole would be a worthy finishing hole, but coming at the start of the round it demands your attention. It is of championship caliber and one of the best golf holes in the Adirondacks. A par will surely result in honors on the second tee.

Like all good courses the best of the finishing holes are strategic and somewhat deceptive. The 17th, a par 4 at 430 yards long is a great golfing hole, but it is an invitation to disaster if you don’t keep your tee shot well to the left side of the fairway. The par 5, 18th with elevated green is a dramatic setting for a closing hole and deserves special judgement for your par and very special judgement for your birdie.
